Reminds me of.. Argh I can’t remember.
It was this theory back in the 1900s that our personal development echoed our evolutionary development.
Interestingly, it was the basis for the claim of adolescence.
Spencer, the theory is called “ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny” or simply the Recapitulation Theory, and there is a good reason this reminds you of it. This is am 1892 copy of a drawing by Ernst Haekel, the theory’s originator. The drawing is of highly questionable accuracy, which is why I find it’s wide circulation and use as evidence for Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection a bit distressing. I can just imagine creationists discovering this and trying to use it as “proof” that all Darwinists are liars and Satan worshipers.
Actually creationists have been using this as “proof” that evolutionists are liars and Satan worshipers. One of the more famous creationists spewing this lie is, of course, Kent Hovind.
This drawing was actually proven to be falsified over 100 years ago. It is still somehow being taught and being placed in Biology books as a fact. This speaks volumes to the overwhelming power evolutionists have in the field of science. If there are facts to present, then let them come forth, but don’t kick Creationists out of science while holding on to MANY proven false evidences.
http://www.answersingenesis.org/tj/v15/i2/textbooks.asp This is the link to a very credible site where they lay out all of the proof regarding this blatant fake and any other evolutionist argument. Feel free to browse the site with ANY questions you may have about Creation v. evolution.
Pass, I don’t get my reading material from a website who’s sole mission is to spread disinformation and lies. Every single citation on that page (of bullshit) was self referencing or was a misquotation/distortion.
This diagram maybe delightful for your adult fairy tale of ‘goo to you’ evolution but it was proved a hoax over 100 years ago. Who is the one spreading disinformation?
Actually Christianity was proven a hoax much earlier than that. This is an ontogenetic sequence of several different organisms and is not a hoax. Originally a concept called “Ontogeny Recaptiulates Phylogeny” and that hypothesis is not entirely true. Ontogeny does however indicate the similarity between organisms and embryology has led to numerous advances in phylogenetic sequences and classification of organisms (a good example is the echinoderms [starfish, crinoids, echinoids, brittle stars]).

Wow I never realised we looked so much alike in our early stages

This is kind of creepy. But cool.

Note that it really, really wasn’t true. At all.

Nah, well continue to keep magic and fairy tales out of science class, but thanks for trying.

Just like Christianity was proved a hoax more over 100 years ago?
