Religious Retard Attacks Science – People Should Stop Learning
Did I say “Retard”? I shouldn’t degrade mentally retarded people by comparing them to someone who willingly rejects knowledge and embraces ignorance. At least retarded people try to learn.
Pope says some science shatters human dignity
VATICAN CITY (Reuters) – Pope Benedict said on Thursday that embryonic stem cell research, artificial insemination and the prospect of human cloning had “shattered” human dignity.
In an address to members of the Vatican department on doctrinal matters, Benedict said the Church had a duty to defend the “great values at stake” in the field of bioethics.
The speech was the latest in a series in which the conservative Pope has told his listeners that scientific progress should not be accepted uncritically.
Benedict, who headed the same department for years before his election in 2005, said the Church was not against scientific progress but wanted it based on “ethical-moral principles.”
He said this included total respect for the human being as a person “from conception until natural death,” and respect for the natural transmission of life through sexual intercourse.
Practices like freezing embryos, suppression of embryos in multiple pregnancies, embryonic stem cell research, the prospect of human cloning and artificial insemination outside the body had “shattered the barriers meant to protect human dignity,” he said.

In the fairness for Natzinger, at least while he doesn’t approve abortions, stem cell research etc, he doesn’t either approve IVF. Not approving either is better (or it would go to as absurd as all these anti-abortion and pro-death sentences people).

Use mentally deficient. It doesn’t include retarded people, and it’s accurate!

Sam’s right, heh. But bah…why are we bothering to listen to these outdated fossils?

that scientific progress should not be accepted “uncritically.” — You’re calling him a retard because of this? seriously? That’s a pretty acceptable statement. You may disagree with it but it doesn’t make him a retard. “Rejecting knowledge” doesn’t mean applying every technology that we’re able to.

Hahaha, it’s not science unless it’s undergone critical review.
What the pope is really saying is “don’t accept science without religious review”.

What about his views regarding the procuring of stem cells from other sources, i.e. discarded umbilical cords? Oh wait, unless we take his views out of context we can’t call him a retard. My bad.

I work with retarded people everyday. Yoou do them a great disservice calling the pope a retard. One of their terms-fur-bearing ijut-seems more appropriate.

The word the Vatican always uses is human dignity. Can’t they think of another word?

I see some whiny pope defenders here. Stem cell research, if properly supported, could cure an amazing number of illnesses, and the only reason it isn’t being pursued as it should is because of religious idiots saying “Well, an embryo has a SOUL”. Does it matter that at the point of harvest, the embryo is an undifferentiated clump of cells, with no brain, no heart, no lungs, no capacity for emotion or thought? Not to them. They get to challenge it on religious grounds, and when you question them, they say “You can’t question this. These are my religious beliefs.”
I have to say, fuck their religious beliefs. The dying, the paralyzed, and the suffering trump your personal delusional fantasy about how the world works. Fuck your beliefs, and fuck you, for trying to keep near miraculous cures out of the hands of people who desperately need them. If this is your view, you deserve scorn and ridicule in the public square. You should be ostracized by society, living your life as an outcast, for trying to deny the dying cures for their illnesses.
