You need to add a space after “is” for the results to appear.

“Muslim is” technically does not make sense because “Muslim” is the word for an active participant in the ISLAM religion, not a name for the religion. “A Muslim is” would be more grammatically correct.

I am quite aware of that. My point was only that if they were trying to censor their auto-complete feature, they didn’t do a very good job of it.

Michael is right in that, when you type in ‘muslim is ‘ you will get similar results. When you type ‘muslim is’ it gets results like ‘muslim islam’ which is what navado likely saw. But this is missing the point. Slowly type in ‘Islam is’. As soon as you hit the S, all the results disappear. This shows a deliberate censorship by google, and it is despicable and cowardly.

On the “Islam is” search, I’d have to agree with everyone that it seems very intentional, but I don’t think that the “Muslim is” search is. You need the space because there are too many words associated with Muslim that start with “is,” such as Islam and Ishmael.

The algorithm doesnt know what to do with the typing of it, since algorithm was invented by a muslim he opted islam out of it.

If you try “Christians are…” or “Jews are…” or “Muslims are..” You get the same blank. I wonder if they have some process meant to keep from being accused of promoting hate speech. However, it seems that this places criticism of Islam on the same level as criticism of Muslims, while not doing the same thing for Christianity and Christians, or Judaism and Jews. I call foul.

      February 15th, 2010 at 16:26

You get the same for “black people are”, “white people are” and “Asian people are”, so apparently, Google is generally trying to protect all members of religious groups and races. They’re normally not protecting ideas though… except in the case of Islam. But as someone pointed out below, they already changed that now. They’re more scared of losing their credibility than of a Muslim backlash against an algorithm, I guess.

if something isnt in the suggestions then thats because nobody is searching it or there arent any ages about it…..so…..

please do your research before you start your little conspiracy….

however now it does appear, not because google got scared of you. but because the little conspiracy theory grew and more people searches it so it became more relevant so it was suggested…

yea, there’s nothing wrong with google. its all good.

However, I don’t believe it’s any of our place to suggest that one should ignore or relate to religion, or question one’s belief in religion whether or not it is Islam.

The religion [Islam] is a blind faith, open to only those who are willing to see with their eyes closed.

Islam is not bullshit. It is a true religion and so there are also many non believers. So it is better if we dont start to be a racist because it is wrong. Even in other religions knew god created us in different races so that we would get to know each others culture and religion better however nowadays people start to make fun of other religions. So do not start to be a racist or start seeing further generations fighting and earth in danger after you die.

      June 7th, 2010 at 08:53

“dont get your family members to make 4 u the decision.”
Every single child in every religious family has that decision made for them and given no other alternatives.
There’s no point trying to explain this to you since you’re clearly in too deep.

    Hi,
    We present our site

    Have a look to
    http://www.islam-documents.org

(which is the improvment of the other islam-documents.com, once based in Tunisia).

There is thousands of texts (around 20 000) about the origins of islam, with a critical, humanist, democratic and scientific view (and even ironical). It is now the bigger “sourcebook” on that subject, with often unpublished documents: Muhammad biographies (SIRA), the main books of traditions (HADITH) , muslim chronicles (TABARI…), companions biographies (TABAQAT), quranic verses, quranic commentaries (TAFSIR). It is sometimes funny, or stupid, ugly, frightening, but always interesting!

A new version is now available, improved and corrected: around 3700 pages. We are working for a new version published every year.

All is in french. so sorry. but you need to read it to understand muslim thinking and acts. It is a rare opportunity to reach genuine information from islamic doctrinal texts.

Now, you won’t tell again: we just don’t know…

    Bye. Take care.

And i recommend all that do not convert to islam, unless you think your are doing the right thing! once you convert you wil be trapped and you can’t get out because if a muslim finds out that you left islam they will kill you!!

As people become more educated, especially in more developed nations, they generally care less and less about religion. See the reality of “this life” is that it really makes absolutely no difference what your religion or race is.

I am a nephrologist (career wise), and when I look at MRIs, CTs, X-rays, or even in the OR where the rest of the body is covered I do see differences between people but they aren’t divided based on race or religious lines.

If there truly is a god then I hope that simply being a warm-hearted person, with generally good intensions and following logical moral ethics (such as helping those less fortunate every-now-and-then, speaking out for what you believe, standing up for equality, political freedom, religious freedom, and personal freedoms and privacy) will put you in “heaven” if it does exist regardless if you pray or not, or if you follow a certain religion or not.

Most people know that what religion you belong to doesn’t begin as a choice, but rather you are born into it, and as people mature, and become more educated, they learn to appreciate our endevour as humans to through experiments, theories, evidence, and probability testing of these theories to come up with confidence intervals to understand the world around us.

If god is truly as forgiving, caring and kind as you say “he” is. Then I would be doubtful what religion or how tightly you hold on to that religion would be what is used to determined if you are fit to be put in heaven. I’d assume your actions, and what I said above would matter more. If this is not the case, then god isn’t really as caring, forgiving, understanding and kind as you say “he” is.

Islam, Christianity and very similar, indeed prophet Jesus is mentioned in the Quran and the coming of prophet Mohammed is mentioned in the Bible. There are other similarities such as the day of judgement, heaven/hell, other prophets such as Moses, Abraham. Adam and eve mentioned in both etc.

….although this is of no relevance to the topic I have recently been asked by Christians why the Quran does not permit eating pork. I stated that it’s probably because Pigs can eat their own waste and roll around in mud/dirt etc.

But I noticed that the bible also forbids the eating of the Pig, indeed it’s stated in the book of Deuteronomy and Leviticus.

“Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch,
they are unclean to you.” [Leviticus 11:7-8]
“And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud,
it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their
    dead carcass.” [Deuteronomy 14:8]

If we all read up about the religions we would realise we are not so different after all. Religion is peace, it is man who becomes corrupt and spreads evil….We will all return to god for judgement so let’s be nice to each other, pray and do good deeds.

    • Ian
      August 19th, 2010 at 12:02

“Religion is peace”, yeah, no one’s ever been murdered in the name of a god.. right?

  23. jayjay
    August 19th, 2010 at 13:44

Yes Ian, religion is peace, it is designed to help us…….

You have to understand that there are good and bad in every society….the bible, quran etc are books to guide us to the correct path, to pray and help us treat each other better and understand our purpose in life etc.

If people do evil deeds and wrongly kill others in the name of god, they are not religious or good people………they are simply using the name of the religion for their own benefit.

……..now imagine if I wrongly said to people “Ian is a bad and evil man”….does this make you bad and evil.

    • Andre
      August 19th, 2010 at 14:38

This same argument could be made about the atomic bomb. “It was designed to help us…. by killing hundreds of thousands of people we don’t like.” What a terrible argument you’ve made here.

    • Ian
      August 19th, 2010 at 14:43

The bible does not teach morality, morality is intrinsic to all of us.

      • Greenworld
        August 20th, 2010 at 01:25

Well, there are some obvious moral things that [i]are[/i] taught, such as respecting your parents, not stealing, not murdering, not cheating on your spouse, not wishing evil upon your neighbor, and best of all: NOT JUDGING OTHER PEOPLE JUST BECAUSE YOU DON’T AGREE WITH THEM!

The main problem with how the Bible is used is this: fundies only care about telling outsiders to convert due to the “Hell” scare. Bullshit. They are hypocrites to their own fucking book, fucking Christ. No, not everything in the Bible is moral, but that does not mean that there aren’t some good verses that are humanistic and decent. It’s just a mixed-up book of contradictions. This is why it’s better to stray off contradictory lifestyles and think for yourself and how you’d like to think.
